To give up something you appreciate. Something you find useful, but also keeps you from God, from others, from doing and using your time the best way possible.
Lent is a special time of the year when we are called to do so. To realize how small we are, how foolish sometimes. Blind and weak. Also to realize how mercyful God is. How boundless His love is.
My foolishness lies in the attachment to this material world. Though I, and everything I possess, is only dust and shall (re)turn into dust one day. Nothing. Nothing at all compared to Love.
